{"id":174,"date":"2016-06-14T21:37:28","date_gmt":"2016-06-14T20:37:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/joelherber.com\/?p=174"},"modified":"2019-12-27T16:05:37","modified_gmt":"2019-12-27T16:05:37","slug":"unite-europe-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joelherber.com\/?p=174","title":{"rendered":"Unite Europe 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-175\" src=\"http:\/\/joelherber.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/DSC_0271-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_0271\" width=\"615\" height=\"346\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Last week myself and fellow Plug-In developer <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/james_provan\">James<\/a> were lucky enough to be sent to Unite Europe in Amsterdam to check out what&#8217;s changing with the Unity engine and see what cool new stuff is on the horizon.<br \/>\nWe spent the majority of our time (when we weren&#8217;t watching the various talks and presentations) checking out the Made with Unity showcase. I was really impressed with the variety and quality of the upcoming games, and it was great to chat to the other devs about their methods. Pode is a puzzle platformer mixed with Lost Viking style problem solving. The visuals were cute and charming and the gameplay feels quite relaxed and zen like. Although the developers insisted the version we played was still pre-alpha, it was one of the most polished games on display.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-177\" src=\"http:\/\/joelherber.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/pode_screenshot_04-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"pode_screenshot_04\" width=\"615\" height=\"346\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Of all the talks that I saw over the week, my favorite was probably the following talk by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bulkpaint\">Alex Trowers<\/a>. It details the journey he went through with his partner\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/_ikouyo\">Leanne\u00a0Bayley<\/a> to create a game before the arrival of their child.
